How does Web Hosting work? Print

Once you purchase one of our web hosting plans, we store your website on a BKHosting server and assign it an unique DNS.

The Domain Name System (or DNS) translates human readable domains (such as google.com) into IP addresses (similar to 173.194.*.*). You can see this as the phonebook of the Internet that allows you to access information online with domain names instead of numbers. DNS is an unique address that is required for users to view your website.

Whenever you buy web hosting services you are basically renting space on the servers of the provider. This is similar to the space you have on your personal computer, but having it on a server makes it accessible from anywhere.
